The Cloud Platforms technology area sits within our Infrastructure and Cloud Services Domain and builds and operates our cloud platforms.

As an Engineer, you relentlessly automate all the things and apply best practices in CI/CD and infrastructure automation. You lecture people about DRY, and you can talk at length about git branching strategies and secrets management. You likely know more than one cloud and be able to bring experience in networking, software, and SRE to our cloud estate - starting as always with the code. You are a champion of open-source development and git, bash, docker & Kubernetes are the bread and butter of your day job.

As an Engineering Chapter Lead for Cloud Platforms, you will be responsible for delivering best in class services for the engineering community in one of Australia's largest financial institutions.

What will your day look like

  • Aligning with the New Ways of Leading (NWOL) culture, you will inspire and lead your chapter to continuously improve the platforms, processes, and tools. You are responsible for and support the personal development and performance reviews of Chapter members, based on input from Product Owners and Squad members.
  • Help to create a shared vision by helping develop our engineering standards and principles, ensure alignment with other Chapter Leads; Share insights and knowledge of own expertise with Chapter members and other Chapters; Take an active role in expertise sharing across the organisation; Seek expertise and insights from others to grow own thinking and capability.
  • Develop Chapter Expertise: Have a vision for the expertise of the Chapter and monitors and drives capability development towards this; Contributes expertise to support the realisation of the squad and tribe missions; Continuously develops expertise and stays up-to-date with emerging trends, practices and information in the area of expertise and more broadly; Understand and plan for workforce capability needs, current, and future.
What will you bring?

  • You are passionate about growing & developing others and have a proven track record in coaching and mentoring
  • Great written communicator with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a simple and easy to consume manner
  • You have built and run Cloud technology at scale and have experience with either AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Great with people and know-how to build and maintain relationships. You’ll be able to inspire, facilitate, communicate, and negotiate with ease.
  • You can talk at length about git branching strategies, secrets management, continuous delivery and automation.
  • Comfortable coding in one or more languages (bash, JavaScript, Golang, Python, Powershell, etc), and you use these skills to automate as much as possible.
  • Ability to advise upon, design, and implement cloud security, availability, and reliability best practice.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as code such as Terraform, along with continuous integration/delivery tooling.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new content and the ability to translate this to your Chapter
  • A resilient personality and comfortable with changeable to overcome setbacks as they occur.
